Your name: Cyril B.
Your age: 41 – 50
Your mother tongue: French
Your profession: scientist
Month(s) and year you took the training: september-december 2017
Specific personal challenge you wanted to work on during the training:
I’m French and came to Belgium for a new position in a federal institute. I like languages and thought it is normal to learn Dutch in order to be able to communicate with my Dutch-speaking colleagues (even if they do speak very good french!) and with people from the Flemish community.
Specific professional challenge you wanted to work on during the training:
My goal with this particular session was to pass over the fear of making mistakes while speaking. I had trainings before which gave me already quite some knowledge about grammar, but I was a bit reluctant to dare speak.
What was the result of the course you participated in?:
I think I am daring more now. My Dutch-speaking colleagues told me that. So… goal achieved! I’m less scared of mistakes and really start to simply talk, filling missing words by French or English ones.
How did Dutch Language Classes help you to make progress on your challenge during the training?:
A lot! Because David focuses on the need of the students, I’m sure most students feel the difference after the training. In my case, most of the training was discussion on various aspects, which helped to acquire vocabulary. And when required, grammar points.
How would you describe the training style of Dutch Language Classes?:
Very interactive and friendly. David is very enthusiastic and he has many tools to satisfy the needs of each students. He is very encouraging but at the same time, he gives the necessary information to improve oneself.
What do you find unique in the Dutch Language Classes approach?:
Probably the fact that David is tailoring his classes for each student.
Why should others decide to work with Dutch Language Classes?:
If you are motivated to improve your fluency in Dutch, working with David will definitively give you more confidence. You will improve your Dutch skills almost without noticing.
